Did you know that here in the Quad Cities we have gone 66 consecutive years with no rain on April 1st. This remarkable stretch is the 2nd longest streak for any individual city in the United States. The last time it rained on April 1st was back in 1943. That year Franklin Roosevelt was President and the Yankees beat the Cardinals in the world series 2-0. According to the National Weather Service, we’ve never gone more than a few years without rain or snow on April Fool’s Days. However, it is not a day that is usually wet. The numbers show that measurable rain has only been recorded on 43 of 137 April Fool’s Days, or 31.4% of the time. Stay dry and ride the wind. T. Swails
